​MEET DR. VAIKUNTHAN RAJARATNAM

 

He graduated from the University of Malaya in 1980 with distinction in pathology and did his initial orthopaedic surgery training at the University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and later continued his advanced plastic, hand and microsurgery training in the UK and US and later became a medical entrepreneur by setting up the first private trauma hospital in Malaysia. He maintained his academic affiliations with the UMMC as honorary consultant and progressed to develop hand surgery and public and physician education on health and medicine in Malaysia through his leadership involvement in numerous professional bodies like the Malaysian Orthopedic Association, Malaysian Society for the Surgery of the Hand, Malaysian Osteoporosis Society and the Malaysian Healthy Ageing Association. 

 

The new Millennium saw Dr Vaikunthan Rajaratnam working in the National Health Service in the UK as a senior Consultant Hand Surgeon in Birmingham, with a subspecialty interest in peripheral nerve and brachial plexus surgery. His main focus had been in building the specialty of hand surgery in the UK and played a significant role in developing the largest hand surgery center in UK. In 2011, Dr Vaikunthan Rajaratnam relocated to Singapore as Senior Consultant .

​MEET AHMAD YAZID BIN JUS

​

Ahmad Yazid Bin Jus is a Chief Therapist cum Assistant Manager at Hand & Upper Limb Centre,  Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur. He leads the unit as the appointed HOD in every matter pertaining to the administration and operation of the unit. He also provides rehabilitation and hand therapy treatments & services for the patient. He graduated with Diploma of Occupational Therapy in 2003 and Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2010 from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Malaysia. In the social involvement, he is currently the president of Malaysian Society for Hand Therapy (MSHT) and also member of the Malaysian Occupational Therapy Association (MOTA). He was leading the 6th Congress of Asian Pacific Federation of Societies for Hand Therapist (APFSHT) as an organizing chairman and few other symposiums organized by MSHT. With at least 14 years of clinical experience and his motto, “True knowledge is when you apply the knowledge and share it with others”, he is eager to contribute his skills and experience in the teaching and learning process while continuing his clinical work.

​MEET RANUGA DEVY

​

She graduated from University of Wolverhampton, U.K. in 1995 and was admitted to the Malaysian Bar as an advocate and solicitor in 1997. Besides being a lawyer, she also has a Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. 

 

She is actively involved in social activities, one of which is being an active Hon. Secretary of the Malaysian Healthy Ageing Society. She has presented a number of papers in medical conferences in relation to Law, and has run workshops for the Medical Profession both locally and internationally.
 
She has also done Public Talks relating to Legal issues in various fields. She has been invited as guest lecturer to the Faculty of Medicine at University Putra Malaysia and Perdana University School of Occupational Therapy to lecture the medical students on Legal issues on Elderly Care. 

​

Previously, she had her own solo practices called Ranuga & Co besides being active in social work.  She joined a group practice under the name and style of Ranuga, Yogeswari & Surendran in 2016. She now is a sole proprietor under the name and style of Ranuga & Associates. She continues to serve the society and conducts talks on various aspects of the Law.

​MEET DR. LEE FATT SOON

​

Dr. Lee Fatt Soon was the former Head of Geriatric Services of Hospital Kuala Lumpur and a lecturer, specializing in the care for the elderly in UPM. His interest lies in the wellness of the elderly in various aspects, especially from the medical perspective. He is the author of The Handbook of Geriatric Medicine.


He graduated from Universiti Malaya with MBBS in 1986, and completed his geriatric trainig in 2000 with Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (under Prof Philip Poi and Prof Srinivas) & clinical attachment at King’s College London. In 2012, he received his Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Membership of the Royal College of Physician in 1992 of United Kingdom.

​MEET SERENE LEE

 

Serene Lee Shing Yee is an occupational therapist since 2009 where she was graduated with Bachelor of Science Honours in Occupational Therapy from Uniersiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2009. She then completed her Master in Medical Science from University Malaya in 2012. Serene was certified in Sensory Integration Praxis Test (SIPT) & Therapeutic Listening and attended numerous courses related to pediatric field such as SOS feeding approach, Beckman Oral Motor, Praxis difficulties, handwriting, social thinking, NDT and other related to sensory dysfunction workshop.

 

She also involved as speaker and co-speaker in conference and workshop held in International school, University and Hospitals like Nexus International School, University Sains Malaysia, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kota Kinabalu, Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Hospital Pulau Pinang, Hospital Seberang Jaya, Hospital Sibu and Hospital Taiping

​MEET DR. AKEHSAN DAHLAN

 

Dr.Akehsan Dahlan graduated from the School of Occupational Therapy, Ministry of Health, Malaysia in 1988. He practiced as an occupational therapist for almost 9 years in various settings prior to pursuing the Occupational Therapy degree conversion at Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Western Australia and Graduate Diploma in Education in 1996. He started working in UniversitiTeknologi MARA (UiTM) in 1997 (previously known as ITM).  Dr.Akehsan completed his Master in Health Sciences, Post Graduate Diploma in Health Resource Management and Graduate Certificate in Continues Education from the Teesside University, United Kingdom in 2005.  He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy from Queen Margaret University, Scotland in 2012, specialising in Geriatric Rehabilitation.

​MEET MICHELLE G. FRENCH 

 

Michelle is a highly skilled Occupational Therapist of almost 30 years experience.

 

She was accredited in 2001 as Occupational Therapist and obtained her Master of Occupational Therapy in 2006. Currently she is a member of World Federation of Occupational Therapist, Australian Association of Occupational Therapist and Past President for Victorian Brain Injury Association of Victoria. Currently, she started working in Michelle French & Associates since 1994. In 1993 she was the manager for Equipment Services Yooralla Society of Victoria.


She is regarded as one of Australia’s top Occupational Therapy Medicolegal experts, having provided expert opinion in some of the biggest cases in Australia and internationally. Michelle approaches every client by looking at the person themselves, the activities they are interested in, their environment, their family and how they interact, to provide tailor-made reports and packages that meet their needs.

MEET DR. MOHD ZULKIFLI ABDUL RAHIM

​

Dr.Mohd Zulkifli Abdul Rahim is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Health Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Health Campus, Kelantan.  He is the head of the Health Rehabilitation Unit (Occupational Therapy), Exercise and Sport Science Program.  He is also the Chairman of Disability Cluster, USM.  He is currently, the elected President of the Malaysian Occupational Therapists Asscociation.  Dr.Zul Rahim started his practice as an occupational therapist in year 1990 at the University Hospital, USM after completing his training from the Occupational Therapy College, Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  He was awarded a scholarship from USM to pursue his Bachelor’s education at the University of Teesside, UK.  He received his Masters and Ph.D from the University of Queensland, Australia.  In USM, he has established various projects for people with disabilities, including Employment Training Program for people with Intellectual Disabilities, which is currently, being replicated in Penang Malaysia.  Dr.Zul and his team has also established Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) centre in USM and initiated wheelchair modification and service centre in USM, Kelantan, in collaboration with the Rajanagarindra Institute of Child Development (RICD), Thailand.  Internationally, Dr.Zul was awarded the Disaster Heroes medallion, by the Australian government and the International Student Award by the University of Queensland.

​MEET WONG SER SIEW

 

She graduated from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2009. She practiced as an occupational therapist for almost 9 years in multiple settings. She started working in Paediatric Sense Therapy Network since 2015as clinical director. Previously she was employed with Sau Seng Lum Stroke And Dialysis Rehabilitation from 2009 till 2014 where she acted as Assistant Head of Department Occupational Therapist in Pediatric Rehabilitation &Clinical Perceptor of OT student from Masterskill College. Among her latest keynotes are as speaker of “Kursus Pemulihan Kanak-Kanak Bermasalah Pembelajaran Sempena Hari Jurupulih Carakerja at University Teknikal Malaysia Melaka in 2014 and as speaker in the Malaysia Occupational Therapy Annual Scientific Meeting, MOTA, 2013

​MEET DR. MELISSA NOTT

​

She completed her PhD in the University of Sydney (2008), where she researched occupational performance in persons with traumatic brain injury. Dr Nott is a senior lecturer of occupational therapy at the Charles Sturt University, School of Community Health.  She has also worked as clinical research officer in  Westmead Hospital Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service (2008 - 2011) and as occupational therapist in Royal Perth Hospital and Westmead Hospital Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service between 2002 - 2006. She is currently the scientific committee Occupational Therapy Australia Conference, founding member of International PRPP Instructors Network and the Occupational Performance Coaching Group (2018).

Dr Nott is also actively engaged in  community works, where she strives to foster engagement and diversity to achieve regional, national and international impact through collaborations and community partnerships.

​MEET DR. TEH PEI LEE

​

Dr. Teh Pei Lee is an Associate Professor at the School of Business, Monash University, Malaysia. Prior to joining Monash University, she was a Senior Lecturer in Multimedia University. She holds the degrees of Bachelor of Information Technology, Master of Management, and a Ph.D. in Management. Her teaching and research interests cover Management Information Systems, Technology Management, Total Quality Management, Knowledge Management, Entrepreneurship, Gerontechnology, Innovation and Learning. She is currently the Associate Editor of the Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education (DSJIE) and International Journal of Electronic Business (IJEB). She founded the Gerontechnology Laboratory in Monash University Malaysia, the first of its kind in Malaysia.

​MEET CHU AI REEN

 

Chu Ai Reen is one of the senior occupational therapist in Hospital Tuanku Jaafar Seremban since 2005 till present. She holds the degree of Bachelor of Science Applied Rehabilitation in Occupational Therapy, Master of Occupational Safety and Health Risk Management. Chu Ai Reen involved as expert panel with UNICEF Malaysia in Aids & Adaptive Device for disabled children. Her interest covers rheumatology, orthopedic and medical cases. Currently she incharge solely in rheumatology cases. In 2008, she was nominated for overseas attachment in Tung Wah Hospital in Hong Kong along with other MDT team. She also was tasked in writing Clinical Practice Guidelines for Occupational Therapist in rheumatology by Ministry of Health Malaysia.

​MEET AZNITA AHMAD

 

Aznita works as an occupational therapist at Klinik Kesihatan Tanjung Malim, Perak and one of the coordinators for OT in primary care in Perak. She holds a Bachelor Degree of Occupational Therapy from University Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in 2009. She practiced as an occupational therapist for almost 9 years in multiple settings. Being an OT at primary care for almost 8 years surely has making her to become closer to the community. Among programmes covered in her setting are PDK, Elderly program, OKU program, obesity, PSR and others that relates to OT community based rehabilitation programmes. In 2017, KKM in collaboration with JICA nominated her and other MDT team to attend a short course on elderly health care programme (Dementia) at Kumamoto, Japan for 1 month. Since then, she is encouraged to initiate and running an elderly wellness program in Tanjung Malim, Perak.

​MEET PROFESSOR NATHAN VYTIALINGAM

​

Professor Nathan Vytialingam is a Consultant Occupational Therapist who has been in practice for the last 40 years. He graduated from the British College of Occupational Therapists in 1976 and pursued his post-graduate studies in Australia, obtaining his post-graduate Diploma in Health Sciencesin1983 and Masters in Applied Science (Health) in1984 under a Kellogg Fellowship. He has worked in London, Singapore, Australia and Malaysia in areas of rehabilitation specializing in Physical Rehabilitation. His area of interest is in orthopedic and geriatric medicine. He has been active both locally and internationally and was the Vice- President of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (1994-1998) which has a membership of 68 countries. He has been instrumental in organizing the 1st Asia Pacific Congress in Occupational Therapy in 1995 in Kuala Lumpur and created an impact for Malaysia.  He was also the Organising Chairman of the 1st World Congress on Healthy Ageing in 2012 (Malaysia). Currently, he is the Dean of the Perdana University School of Occupational Therapy (PUScOT). Under his deanship, a 4 year degree programme has been established, and currently on the verge of producing a top up degree programme for practicing occupational therapists. He is actively engage in conferences and seminars as the host and speaker

​MEET THILLAINATHAN KRISHNAN

​

Thillainathan Krishnan graduated with a BSc. (Hons) Occupational Therapy from University of Teeside, United Kingdom. Have been practicing in all areas of Occupational Therapy services including Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, hand, Surgery, Neuro-Medical, Infectious Disease, Psychiatry and specialized in Geriatrics, involved in pioneering Palliative Occupational Therapy Services and now coordinating Occupational therapy services in the public Health sector in Malaysia.

 

Mr Thillainathan is currently being tasked in coordination Occupational Therapy services in the health clinics and community by involving in policy making process and ensuring quality of health delivery system incorporating Occupational Therapy. He is also being appointed as author for portal My-Health, Education Division, Ministry of Health, Malaysia and as resource person on Geriatric practice in Occupational Therapy service, Ministry of Health, Malaysia. Mr Thillainathan have been holding various post in Malaysia Occupational Therapy Association as secretary, treasurer and auditor.

​MEET DARREN ATKINSON

 

Darren Atkinson has  over 26 years of experience in Marketing and Communications. During the early years of his career, he worked on leading brands such as Smithkline Beechams, Caltex, Robert Bosch, Blaupunkt, Mattel Southeast Asia, Fed Ex, Kenny Rogers Roasters, Magnolia, OKI Printing Solutions, High 5, Silverbird, Subang Parade, LITRAK and CMTM. While at Universal Music as Promotion Executive and then Label Manager he worked with many popular international artists such as Enrique Iglesias, Aqua, 98 degrees, George Benson, Acoustic Alchemy, She Moves, Samantha Cole, organising their promotional tours and promoting music distributed by the label. From 2000 to 2003, he was the Brand Manager at FHM and was responsible for record breaking copy sales of the leading men’s magazine in Malaysia. He was also involved in numerous successful sponsorship programmes with Carlsberg, Pernod Ricard and MTV Asia during his time there. In 2003, he joined MDK Consultants and won a MERIT award there for his contributions for the World Scrabble Championship held in Kuala Lumpur- an event sponsored by Mattel Southeast Asia, a key client at MDK.

He now runs Magnet Integrated - a Marketing Consultancy he founded in 2013. Magnet Integrated's client's include Empire Hotel Subang, WOLO Hotel, Novartis, Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Perdana University, Malaysian Institute of Interior Design, MHAS, Reach Publishing, Manipal Alumni Association of Malaysia, Sunfeet and Lifestyle Centre. Darren was also responsible for the marketing campaign that helped establish the 1st World Congress on Healthy Ageing in 2012 and the 1st ASEAN Conference on Healthy Ageing in 2017 - signature events organised by MHAS. His experience from stints in brand management, advertising, distribution, publishing, events, media and PR has contributed to Magnet Integrated offering a complete range of marketing services for its clients.
